Hi Wade,
I am not aware of a waiting period. When I registered I rec'd a prompt email and had no issue logging in. Mach has made some changes the last week or so to the server, so it is possible that something has changed. I will check with him and see when I go in this evening. Hope to see you soon.

Well, it's not set to automatically kill someone if they don't identify right away. Here is how it works (and admittedly is not very user-friendly):

1) Bad guy logs on using your registered nickname. There is nothing to prevent them from doing this, although they can't identify themselves as being registered unless they know your password

2) You try to log on, but can't, because the bad guy is using your nickname, so you log on using some other name.

3) Send a message to nickserv to recover your nickname:

/msg NICKSERV RECOVER nickname password

The bad guy gets their nick changed to GUEST<random number> and the server claims the nickname for 1 minute.

4) Send a messge to nickserv to release your nickname so you can claim it:

/msg NICKSERV RELEASE nickname password

5) Change your nickname to the one you registered

/nick nickname

Kind of a long process, but at least there is a way to reclaim your registered nick if you need it, while also letting you change your nickname when you want as long as it's not registered to someone else and they want it at that time.

I couldnt try the nick protection out , can only get 1 nick in per ip address, think i need 2 in there to try that out?

I tried one of the other ports and it works fine now, thank you Kenrick!! I also registered through nickserve and tried the nick kill to see if someone using my nick would be kicked, and nothing happened. Just said it wasnt your nick etc etc. Never did get it kicked off. ?

If you were using port 6660 before it's now on 6667 and 8067... I think thats the only thing that changed that might affect your connection.

Hi Jassy!
As of now Kenrick is working on a "vote to kick" system and with that in place he intends there to be no ops other than him.
With Eva popping in something needs to be in place in case Kenrick is not around, so he did have a few ops before this switch, but i don't know who all is if anyone right now.
It was Alanah,Cam,tnt,grogy,hom before this change, and only one they ever had to kick/ban was eva clones.
As for the connection troubles, i still use same (botosaurus.com port 6667)
So maybe there is an issue, no other comments besides connection refused?

I just tried to connect via my mIRC to botosaurus and it keeps telling me connection refused. I havent had any problem connecting till today. You said you updated the irc server. Is there a new addy we have to put in our ircs now instead of botosaurus.com?

I am glad it will now have the nickserve etc etc. I've used them on other servers and love all those features.

Now if I can only connect again. Also, can we all know who the ops are in these rooms?

Well, I have tried at least every other day, and most of THOSE days, more than once.

I got connected exactly ONE time and that was at least one week ago. Roooooooooooooob and I were the only ones there.

I just tried again and the 'connection' timed out FIVE times.

So, I wouldn't say that I haven't TRIED to show my gratitude for this new site.

For some reason, however, the java site doesn't like me..... I tried to set up a connection via my IRC, and I didn't even make it to the actual site/'room'.....

Well, lo and behold, while I was typing this, I made it into the room via Java.
I'm the only one in there.
ETA....
well, I wasn't really IN THERE. I had to choose a room I guess and when I did they told me it doesn't exist.

90 + Members joined this forum because they enjoy the game. Well, the game is ALIVE and running. Where the heck are all of you?

Keep in mind, moving to the new server requires working out small issues here and there, reorganizing, etc. But you have to give Mach credit, he got this server up and running on very short notice from Talk City. He has dedicated so much of his personal time to do this for YOU, the player. The least we can do is give it our best effort to be there with gratitude and help get things running smoothly.
There are minor issues with connection times and the Java server etc. I have entered the room daily with minimal issues through an IRC. There is a list of IRC's that are free to download and use. Unlike TC, Botosaurus.com will not charge you a fee to access the server via an IRC. And once you use an IRC, you will laugh at Java applications.
The connection time can be a little slow, but with a small amount of patience, you'll be in and playing in no time. A small price to pay to join your friends in the game.
I'm going to list a seperate listing again of the IRC applications available to you. I was going to test several but I simply dont have the time to do that at this time. If anyone wants to volunteer for that project. Please post your findings in the IRC thread that will be created shortly.
If there is another issue or issues keeping you away. This is the place to speak your mind, let's hear it. That's what this forum is for.
